The Autism Initiative
Resources for the staff of Broome DDSO.
The Autism Initiative is a statewide project currently established in New York to improve services and supports for individuals with autism. BDDSO is conducting a pilot project as part of this statewide initiative with the purpose of determining best practices for the development of community residences for individuals with autism. Two newly constructed homes, each housing four people, will be specifically planned and created for adolescents with autism. At the conclusion of this pilot project, BDDSO will present a summary of the methods used in Broome County so that other DDSOs can replicate the process.
